How I’m Romanticizing Life This Summer + My Checklist

This summer, I am committed to being fully present, allowing myself to be captivated by the beauty that surrounds me, and to discover the extraordinary hidden within the seemingly ordinary.

I want to chase sunsets and twirl barefoot in fields, feeling the warm kiss of the sun on my skin. I want to dive into the depths of the ocean, surrendering to the rhythm of the waves. I am ready for the sweet-tart taste of raspberries on a sun-kissed afternoon, to laugh until my belly aches, and to dance beneath a starlit sky, lost in the music of the universe.

Sometimes, it’s incredible how a simple change in the way we see things, a pause to appreciate what we have, or an unexpected moment can wake us up and remind us of the beauty all around. That’s why I wanted to put together this checklist—to remind myself and anyone else who might find it helpful, to slow down and find joy in the little things this summer. It’s about recognizing the magic and wonder that exist right in front of us, even in the mundane moments of our lives. So, weather you plan to check a single item off this list or all of them;

Here are all the ways I’ll be cherishing the small wonders and embracing the enchantment that lies within our everyday lives.

Buy yourself some fresh flowers: Brighten your space with fresh flowers, letting their colors and scents uplift your mood and reconnect you with the beauty of simplicity.

Do one thing at a time: Choosing to do one thing at a time means focusing all our attention on the task at hand, without distractions pulling us away. By giving our wholehearted presence to what we’re doing, we bring more meaning and depth to the experience. It’s about being fully engaged, pouring our passion, creativity, and care into every moment.

Take a shower in the dark. Showering in the dark is a unique experience that engages our senses in a new way. Without light, our other senses become more heightened, making the sensations more intense and creating a special atmosphere.

Creative expression: Set aside dedicated time to engage in activities like painting, writing, dancing, or playing an instrument. Follow your instincts and let your imagination guide you.

Soulful connections: Choosing to spend time with people who have a deep soulful connection with you is a transformative decision. These are the individuals who truly see and hear you, who understand and appreciate who you are at your core.

Feel the rain. Dance barefoot in the rain, letting it wash away any heaviness in your heart. Embrace the childlike wonder of surrendering to nature’s whims.

Only eat foods you love: This means taking care of yourself in more ways than just the physical. It’s about listening to your own instincts and choosing foods that make you feel happy and energized. It’s a way of prioritizing your well-being over external rules or what others say you should eat. It’s a powerful act of self-care, where you let go of diets and instead develop a positive and loving connection with food.

Make fresh juices or infused water: Get creative in the kitchen by adding slices of citrus, herbs, or berries to your water, or blend together a mix of fruits and vegetables for revitalizing juices. It’s a fun way to experiment and awaken your taste buds.

Learn something new: Step outside your comfort zone and explore uncharted territories. Whether it’s trying out a new hobby, diving into a foreign language, or delving into a fascinating subject. This summer is an opportunity to expand your mind and awaken your inner fire.

Have a summer-inspired photoshoot: Using a tripod or a Bluetooth remote, you can snap stunning photos of yourself anywhere, evoking a sense of romance and enchantment. Embrace your creativity and document your journey with joy and self-expression.

Write a letter to your future self: As you write, imagine you are speaking to a dear old friend. Embrace vulnerability and honesty as you pour your heart onto the page, knowing that this letter will guide you towards your future self, lighting the way forward.

We were captivated by anything bright and beautiful, fully embracing the enchantment of the world. Embracing our inner child means reclaiming that awe and curiosity that once fueled us. So next time you’re on a walk, stop and observe that shiny rock, or take a moment to marvel at the vibrant colors of a blooming flower. Allow your inner child to delight in these small wonders.
